After School Tutoring

TUTORING PERMISSION SLIP

The After School Tutoring Program is an opportunity for Wilbur students to attend voluntarily. However, due to limited space it is important that students must have schoolwork to work on during the time.

It is a free program which provides your child with adult supervision, a time to complete homework with help from teachers, and a time to receive help in subject areas they may be struggling to understand. There is also an optional, free of charge snack available daily. Your child’s ADVOCACY teacher has access to sign students up for After School Tutoring once permission has been given by parents for their child to attend. After School Tutoring is offered daily Monday-Thursday from 3:20 4:30 pm. Students may attend up to 2 days per week.

Wilbur students during classroom activity

In order to maintain a safe and fun environment, the After School Tutoring Program must have enforceable rules & regulations which are as follows:

  • All school rules are in effect throughout every After School Tutoring session.
  • Arrangements for students to attend must be made through their advocacy teacher prior to NOON of that day.
  • Students who sign up to attend, and then do not show up will be given a warning. After 3 no shows, the student will no longer be allowed to sign up.
  • Students should be in their designated check in area (cafeteria) by 3:20 pm. Students are released at 4:30 pm.
  • Students may not leave the program before 4:30 pm.
  • If a student leaves tutoring early without permission from tutor and parent, the student will not be supervised and could be excluded from tutoring in the future.
  • Once a student is in their tutoring group, s/he must stay in that group for the remainder of the time.
  • Disrespect, foul language, and intolerable behavior will not be allowed. Students will receive a strike for any incident, and after 3 strikes they will no longer be allowed to attend.
  • After school tutoring is a great time for students to receive structured homework help.
