Wilbur Girls on the Run complete their first 5K
Girls On The Run finished their first season at Wilbur last Saturday. They successfully trained and ran in a 5K, and developed life-long friendships and skill-sets to help them thrive. They have done awesome and we are all so proud of them! We will begin another season in the Fall of 2015, so be on the lookout for information at the beginning of next school year.

Wrangler Staff Members Acknowledged for Excellence
Fred Snyder,†7th†grade science†teacher at Wilbur Middle School, was†named Region 4 Science Teacher of the Year by the Kansas Association of Teachers of Science (KATS). He received the award during the†KATS†state conference on April 10, 2015.​
†† † Snyder has been teaching at Wilbur for three years. He is also the Team Leader for the 7th grade black team.

† ††A surprise greeted Language Arts teacher Hillary†Thackery†at her classroom door. She welcomed the visitors in and was rewarded with a Golden Apple Award from†KAKE†News, Davis-Moore and Papa Johns.†Thackery†received $250, a Golden Apple trophy and a pizza party for her class.
† † †"I was completely surprised,"†Thackery†said. "I didn't expect this."
† † †She was nominated by one of her student's parent. The parent appreciates her dedication, both inside the classroom and out.

† † †Four Wilbur employees were honored recently with Good Apple Awards from the district. They are, left to right: April Karber, librarian; Nora Rayl, Data Leader; Jackie Tabor, PE Instructor; and Jennifer Atchison, Family Involvement Coordinator and Social Worker. According to the USD259 website, "The Good Apple Award program allows schools and administrative support centers to recognize employees, volunteers, and school partners†who provide exemplary service to the district and its students.†
