Wilbur Hosts the Madonna Class of 1970
They knew the building that Wilbur Middle School sits in as Madonna High School, an all-girl Catholic high school. Twenty-two members of Madonna's last graduating class, the Class of 1970 visited Wilbur to tour the building and reminisce about their high school experiences during their 45th class reunion. Principal Mark Jolliffe gave the women a tour of the building, showing them the areas that existed when the women attended, the areas built when the school became Wilbur, and the areas built during the bond work.
“The alumni were very impressed with the additions to the school and were thankful that our students are able to learn in such great facilities,” said principal Mark Joliffe. In 1971, girls at Madonna High School joined their male counterparts at Bishop Carroll High School. The Wichita Public Schools purchased the building and opened it as Wilbur Junior High that year.
